After tracing the pattern onto the appliqué fabric, just lay the appliqué fabric on top of the background fabric, baste, cut away the parts of the appliqué fabric you don't need, exposing the background fabric.
No templates, no numbering system, no positioning of small pieces to create the design.
What could be easier?

Make any of the "2 Fabric Appliqué Quilts" using fusible web and machine appliqué, raw-edge appliqué, or hand appliqué.  The choice is yours!  (Detailed instructions for all three methods included with every pattern.)
