DYE, DISCHARGE and
SILK SCREEN

We’re very excited to be able to offer this class with June Colburn – the first of its kind in the area.
In the afternoon part of the class, you’ll be working with a brand new product called deColourant. deColourant is a discharge medium which not only removes color from fabric but replaces it with a new color. Because it's paint, it will color cotton and other natural fibers. Once the medium dries, it is activated by heat, either with an iron or a blow dryer. One interesting feature is that the longer you heat it, the more it bleaches, so you can control the light-to-dark spectrum. It does not stiffen or weaken the fabric and it has a pleasant citrus scent – no smelly fumes! In both parts of the class, you’ll be working with silk screens, stencils and rubber stamps.
Supply list: Silk pieces/blouses (closet or thrift shop) to dye and silk screen with Colorhue Dyes; cotton fabric/t-shirt, denim to discharge (also discharge some of the silk dyed in the morning). Bring your favorite stencils and/ or rubber stamps. Silk screens will be available in class.
Students receive a 10% discount on all store purchases the day of class.
